Frequently asked

Why can't I save a Spotify purrlist yet?

Spotify's API requires a discretionary approval review once an app passes its initial user threshold, which takes time to schedule and get through. We're shipping Apple Music and YouTube Music playlist creation first, and Spotify is on the roadmap as soon as that review clears. Until then, tap the Spotify icon on any track to open it in the Spotify app — the per-track link still works.

Why can't I preview certain songs?

Previews come from the iTunes Search API, and Apple only has 30-second clips available for songs licensed through the iTunes catalog. If a track is missing from iTunes or isn't licensed for preview in your region, the play button will be grayed out. Opening the track in Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube Music will usually still work.

What makes a good cat photo?

A clear, well-lit photograph where your cat is the main subject. Not a drawing, screenshot, or rendered image — Purrlist is looking at a real cat. One cat per photo reads best. If the app says it couldn't find a cat, try another angle or a shot where your cat isn't hiding behind something. Premium users can upload up to four extra photos through Purrsonalize for a more specific read.

Does Purrlist generate explicit songs?

By default, no. Every purrlist starts with a clean filter applied. Premium users can flip that off in Settings → Content to let the AI pull from the full catalog, including explicit tracks. New Purrsonalize profiles inherit the Settings choice as their starting state and can still be overridden per cat.

My playlist didn't generate. What happened?

Usually this means our AI is temporarily overloaded or your photo was too large. Try again with a different cat photo or wait a minute and retry.

Can I use Purrlist for dogs or other pets?

Purrlist is designed specifically for cats. The AI might still produce something for other animals, but results won't be tuned.

What's Purrlist Premium?

Premium unlocks unlimited saved cat profiles, Purrsonalize (playlists tailored to each cat's personality), and shuffle/regenerate.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through the App Store. Go to iOS Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions → Purrlist → Cancel. You can also tap "Manage subscription" in the app's Settings screen, which opens the App Store page directly.

How do I restore my subscription on a new device?

Open Purrlist on the new device, go to Settings, and tap "Restore Purchases." Your Premium status will be restored if you're signed in with the same Apple ID.

Where are my saved cats stored?

On your device only. We do not store your cat profiles or photos on our servers. If you uninstall the app or switch devices, saved cats will not transfer.

Do you keep my cat photos?

No. Photos are sent to Google's Gemini AI for generation and then discarded. We do not retain them on our servers.

Does Purrlist donate to cat charities?

Not yet. Purrlist is working toward a partnership with a cat-focused nonprofit. Once the partnership is signed, we'll announce the specific partner, the percentage of Premium revenue committed, and the annual minimum in the app and on our About page. Until then, Purrlist Premium is sold on its features alone.
